View From My… Tent on Scafell Pike
A moment of reflection of time gone by, a snap shot from where I lay my head or better still we lay our heads. A look back on a trip or outing, one that I will always remember and don’t want to forget. A View From My… is my mini series where I will let you glimpse into a memory made through a certain view. Today I’m bringing you a view from my Tent on Scafell Pike.
This picture is of one of my favourite yearly memories. 3 years to be precise. Before kids, before owning a home, probably before even living together.
This is Dave, my complete and utter rock. The love of my life, my soul, the man that my beautiful children come from. The man that’s provided me with so many extraordinary memories of the most serene and far out locations.
It’s only fitting I share this today on what is the anniversary of our meeting. We’re not married so this is the date I hold onto of when we became a match.
Back to the picture… All or most our camping trips end up with Dave getting up first and then making cups of tea while I stay snuggled firmly in my sleeping bag! Not so much now we have kids but back here when our relationship was so new.
We are tucked away in a little crevice (sounds like a good name for it) near the base of the summit of Scafell Pike in the Lake District. We’re off the main path out of sight enjoying a free camp for the night.
We camped in this spot 3 years in a row on the same summer weekend. We set up camp, then fairly kit less headed up for an evening ascent of The largest mountain in England. Each time just as we got to the summit the clouds closed in and took away my view!
I’m not bitter about my non-existing view because we had the nights up the mountain. Not a soul around, peace, quiet and cuddles.
As I said at the start Dave is my rock. The person I strive to be a better me, a better Mum for. I have always loved the outdoors but it wasn’t until meeting Dave that I really truly started to explore and love it even more. Having Dave to explore it with has been the best.
We’ve been on countless camping, cycling and walking trips to some amazing locations that on my own I wouldn’t have done. He’s pushed my physical ability beyond what I knew I had at times but always for the better. The end of a long day, having achieved something amazing with the man I love.
We’re a good team and having children has been a test for us. The Robot is amazing and if his sister turns out the same we are going to have a fair few more amazing and memorable moments to come. I couldn’t do this parenting game without him. He’s my back up, my provider, the one person that makes my day complete more than he knows.
I’m not sure we will be going back to this spot to camp anytime soon but I hope one day we will, with or without the kids. Whatever or wherever we go though I am just happy we’re doing it together.
Do you have any treasured pictures that give you a view from a door or window? If you fancy sharing them with me or my readers I’d love to see and hear about them, just send me a message.
