Jelly Play

Jelly Play

I’ve been putting this one off, I know it’ll be fun for the Robot but I just haven’t plucked up the courage.  The Jelly has been in the fridge for two days and today is my usual play deadline, it’s time to get going!

Let’s see how we get on:

Robot crawling towards a plate of jelly - he is excited

As ever I tackle these projects straight on the carpet, this time with added protection of a blanket.  I made little jelly cubes and kept some back. I hate being wasteful so didn’t want to give it all to him in one go.  For those of you that are worried about the carpet, it’s really old!4 seperate pictures of the Robot poking and proding the jelly

The Robot was very methodical about his approach to the jelly, slight prodding on both squares. Followed by a bigger squish and then a further bash.  I was a little disappointed that he didn’t eat any. For someone who normally eats everything he just wasn’t interested.

My favourite part of the whole process was when the Robot started clapping the jelly everywhere, he looked so pleased and happy with himself.  I love the fact he is clapping it makes me super happy – go watch his clapping video here.

The worst part of this was having to clear up after… I should have listened to my friend Over at Adventures with J and done this activity in the bath.  Although it meant I’d have to clean the bath!

#ABC123 is a challenge I have set myself to complete 26 weeks of posts, every week a different letter of the alphabet.  This week is the letter J.

  1. This is really cute! I started to let my son make a little mess on the carpet also because I usually make a bigger mess when I try to chase him and clean him off. He also just seems really happy when he’s making his mess and I don’t want to ruin his moment. I clean areas that may look like they might stain, but that’s all because the apartment makes us hire a professional carpet cleaner before we move out. So I never do a deep scrub because the professionals are going to have to clean behind us when we move next weekend, even if our carpet is already clean.

I love seeing parents doing messy play in the home. I’ve met so many parents who send them to nursery to do these things so it doesn’t mess up their house.
