I’m really happy that the weather has been warmer recently as it’s making “wet” messy play easier to do. This week I am going underwater with some foam sensory play. I found this idea at Two Daloo – Soapy Sea Foam. I packed the little man off for his daytime nap and I set to making foam ready for him to arrive back downstairs to play.
It is really easy to make. Two Daloo uses a food mixer but I got on fine with an electric hand whisk as this is all I had. I used 2 cups of hand soap, 2 cups of water, 2 tea spoons of cornflower and a splash of blue food colouring. Then whisked it up until it became foamy. I could have made more but as it’s only the Robot using it I thought this would be enough. I hid his bath toys inside. Can you see them?!
Preparing this in nap time was an epic fail. Today was a day that the Robot decided to nap for over 2 hours. In the spare hour I had left the foam sort of evaporated leaving watery soap. Never fear though with another whisk blast it foamed right back up again.
The Robot knows this pink bucket well and was eager to get playing. He was very surprised that it wasn’t water and was a lot more cautious than I expected with his exploration.
When he started finding his toys he was quite intent on showing me them all! Look a hippo… yes it is a hippo!
I loved this activity, its one of the cleanest messiest ones I have done yet. Getting to explore this way is brilliant for little ones. It doesn’t matter if they are wet and mucky it’s an experience. The Robot really enjoyed himself and once all the foam had turned to bubble water again I poured it in a jug and filled the tub with water for him to keep playing. Loads of entertainment.
Have you ever tried this before? What about anything similar, I like hearing of others experiences!
#ABC123 is a challenge I have set myself to complete 26 weeks of posts, every week a different letter of the alphabet. This week is the letter U for Under Water Sea Foam.
