The Bee Hive Quilt – Wanta Fanta Block

Last month I shared with you the Quatrefoil block for my Bee Hive January block. This month it’s a new queen bee and a new block. The Wanta Fanta Block selected by Tarryn of She Chases Butterflies.

The block pattern has been created by Better of thread and is a great 4 block making up the whole. Tarryn requested her blocks to match the colours of her new dining room, an eclectic mix of colours and the chance to make the quilt scrappy.

The block uses foundation paper piecing on two corners and thankfully I’m now well practiced with the quiet play pattern club quilt I’m making. It meant that the blocks came together easily.

Although scrappy, I had to dig into my small low volume fabrics to fill the block and also had to be careful to match the different low volumes scraps to the correct scrap on the separate block. Great fun while a little sleep deprived!!

Anyhow here are the blocks I’ve made, block one:

Block two:

Here they are together before I put them in the post.

No queen bee shall escape a little present and I decided to repeat last months present and create a tiny geese key chain made from the scraps of her block:

One day I will write a blog about them!

Can’t wait to find out what’s coming from my March queen. See you next month!
