Splash Splash Splash

It seems a bit out-of-place writing a blog post about the rain when most of the UK has had a mini heat wave and lots of nice spring weather but I am going to anyway.  The Robot loves to splash.   The thunder-storm that hit us on Saturday bought some rain.  It made me realise how lucky I am to have the Robot.

He loves to be outside, he’s happy to explore his own surroundings, he really is just such a lovely little lad that more often than not is a pleasure to hang out with!

So, when it rained on Saturday, the kind of rain drops that are marble sized, I let him go out, there was no stopping him.  He enjoyed himself, he got wet, when he came in he got changed.  It’s the experiences like this, dancing and splashing in the rain, that I hope he will remember and shape him for the future.

This reminded me of a recent puddle splashing adventure visiting Gran’s house. It had rained all morning, the kind of rain that just gets you wet, we had exhausted all inside fun activities and had been stuck inside far too long.

We put on our water proofs and wellies and went on a search for puddles… Easily found long the canal path:

A new game of tree twanging was discovered too. The Robot loved this because it made all the rain fall over us:

We had a good hour of fresh air fun, wandering around the block and another memory in the bank.  I think my Mum had a good time too!!

So next time it rains and you think let’s stay in so we don’t get wet.  Just think twice, what is the worst that can happen?  Go and make your own memories and stop being stir crazy inside just go splash splash in puddles and dance in the rain!!

  1. What a wonderful experience! It sounds like Robot had a great time. You’re so right that we need to just get outside and enjoy the rain. I actually loved doing this with Little H during the warmer winter days. I’d get her to pop her wellies on and she just splashed around. Hope you get a bit of our sunshine too, although I have personally found the afternoons too hot here. I burn easily and don’t like suncream!! #FamilyFun

  2. Molly loves the rain and jumping in big puddles. We often go on walks just to search for puddles. When it rains we get a massive puddle (lake!!) in the back garden which entertains her for ages. It is a bit of a drainage problem we really should get sorted but I’m hesitant because of the fun she has in it. Haha. She gets so wet and muddy but its all the name if fun. And she can have a bath and get dry clothes on afterwards. #familyfun

  3. My oldest used to hate the rain when he was younger and would scream and cry at the very idea of going outside in it. Thankfully he’s gotten over it now and ran outside in that big thunderstorm in just his pants! My youngest has always loved the rain and jumping in puddles and some of our best days out have been in the wet x

  4. Sounds like so much fun. We haven’t had rains in a while but after some initial hesitation last year, I am all for my kiddo jumping in muddy puddles (ahem…Peppa Pig) and seeing him so ridiculously happy doing something so simple and perfectly childlike melts my heart. I loved imagining how the Robot must have felt with the sprinkle from the rain from the branches falling on him. So cute. #familyfunlinky
