Light Play

Light Play

When coming up with something for the letter L it took a bit of time.  It wasn’t until I realised that the Robot always stares at the light in the room that I realised we can try another sensory treat.  While I was pregnant I read about light sensory rooms for babies and thought it would be a lovely place to take my little one.  Unfortunately there isn’t one close by and I hate driving places.

For this though I borrowed a UFO fibre optic light.  I thought about getting the Christmas tree decorations out but I think the UFO does the trick.   This is how we got on:

A collection of RObot images looking at a fibre optic light UFO toy.

Thankfully we have black out shutters in the room so I could try this out in the day time.  suitably dark enough to achieve the benefit of this activity.   In true style the Robot was cautious at first.  Giving me that look of, “What now Mum?”  After a while he reached out and touched the fibre optics.  They move and change colour.  It really did fascinate him and kept us busy for 5-10 minutes.  Not a huge amount of time, but I think something I’ll try again, without the camera so I can really play with him.

Have you ever been to a light sensory room?  Is it is as good as I imagined?  Are there any other “at home” lights you can think of?

#ABC123 is a challenge I have set myself to complete 26 weeks of posts, every week a different letter of the alphabet.  This week is the letter L.

That is good. I am sure that even your big baby will love some of the sensory challenges, or at least love getting messy! Ooo yes, go and check the room out, I bet it’ll be good
