Let’s Go to The Park

Let’s go to the park!  The Robot has been able to use the swings for a couple of months now and with nicer weather it’s one of our daily go to activities, sometimes more than once.  10 minutes of outdoor play, get some fresh air and clear the head and the big bonus is, it’s free.

When the Robot was crawling our closest play park became a tad boring.  In the baby section it is pretty much just a swing and a couple of bouncy things.  It was only a matter of time before we progressed to the big kids park!  With this in mind, we have were inspired to go and try out some different parks by Lucy from Occupation M(other).  She has set up Southampton Swing Watch, writing up a directory of local parks.  I’m not going to attempt this myself though, but at least I am trying out different places.

Here is my weekly video for This Little Big Life, at a park in Silverdale.

Just a few more reasons why going out to the park is a good idea:

Wooden trains are so much fun

Robot sat on a wooden play park train made from what look likes sleepers

Swings are designed to be swung on all day long!

Big swings are even more fun!

Robot sat upright in an large open swing. He's happy and balancing

Playing at the Park gives littles ones to explore and be a little bit more independence.  What is a slide to us is a giant adventure for someone who is 2 foot tall!  Just imagine being that high up from the ground!

Now that the Robot is a lot older he loves to run around and round and round the park equipment.  For someone with little legs that is a lot of energy to burn off.  It is truly remarkable.  The best thing is all this burnt off energy leads to better sleep.  The more fresh air he gets the more he sleeps. Bonus.

How often do you go to the park?  Does your child have the same enjoyment as my son!?

#ABC123 is a challenge I have set myself to complete 26 weeks of posts, every week a different letter of the alphabet.  This week is the letter P for Play Parks.

Do you fancy having a go at the #ABC123 Challenge?

ABC123 Blue Building Block

  1. Love the idea of an ABC challenge! Well done you for making it to P, haha. Those huge swings that resemble diaphragms – I once found about £20 in pound coins underneath one where obviously a zealous dad with big pockets had got in amongst it and lost all his change. That was a good day for me #fortheloveofBLOG

  2. My little one LOVES the park too. She’s been in to swings since about 10 months old (she’s now 17 months) and has recently become a slide fanatic too. Yesterday I actually got a “weeee” as she slid down. It’s such a nice way to get them out for some fresh air and usually in a fairly safe environment (unless they throw themself off something…) #fortheloveofblog

  3. aww cute pictures! gone are the days when I could push the kids on the swing, Im not even allowed to walk beside them most days lol – This probably adds to my lack of motivation to get outside doing things, theres no one to do things with haha! really nice post #abrandnewday
