Happy Days – Is It Nap Time?

Happy Days is a process for finding the happiness in every day and is something that I enjoy doing with Katy and Sian each week, I really feel it adds value to my life.  It allows me to make the most of each day and leave it on a positive note.

Okay okay, I’m having an epic Mummy Blogger fail of my usual Saturday Morning deadline this week.  The brilliant thing is though it really doesn’t matter, that glorious saying “My Blog, My Rules” is definitely in play.   We’ve not had the most amazing of weeks here in the Two Tiny Household and I really couldn’t summon up the effort of writing this post for said deadline.

So here I am Sunday evening while Dave watches Top Gear, drinking beer, putting something at least a little bit happy down in text for all those little moments that made me smile.   Rolling back to last weekend…

– Dave’s work has finally calmed down a bit and he’s getting weekends off properly again, with rubbish weather we had a really normal average Saturday where we managed a bit of shopping, a mini walk and plenty of down time.

– I completely failed at taking my camera out on our first bike ride of the year, we cycled to Arnside, played on the beach and ate bacon sandwiches. A fun little adventure for us. I’m really looking forward to warmer weather so we can do this again with picnics and buckets and spade!

– For all my messy play activities I have been avoiding doing regular painting with the Robot, we’ve had some fails.  We did a couple of mini paint sessions this week though and even though they were indeed mini he did a request to do it the next day too.

– We gave the Robot a bit of a hair cut, it was getting unruly but not quite long enough all over to go to a hairdressers so I gave him a little bit of a snip myself, success!

– I’d been doing so well cutting out the sweet stuff that I treat my self to some mini eggs. Yummy.

– The Robot has been painful this week, getting up before 5.30am most mornings, thankfully later each day but it’s had a knock on effect with my energy levels (hence the mini eggs).  It’s all been about the nap times because of this…

Karen with the Robot napping

Napping together, napping in the buggy (The Robot not me), napping alone, early nights, pleas to Dave take him downstairs so I can stay sleeping, generally feeling like a zombie most of the week.  He does look so peaceful, I just wish he would stay asleep a little bit longer…

RObot fast asleep
A little bit of drool…

With that I am going to leave you alone and go enjoy the rest of my evening, all 10 minutes of it before I go to bed and start the week again….  But, I’ll leave you this quote that I am sharing with Candid Cuddles with Becky and Prabs:

Let's Start By Taking a Smallish Nap or Two... Winnie The pooh - Finding the Happy moments in the day whatever they are!

Have a good week x

  1. Oooh I really want some mini eggs now. Is 8am too early? Ha.

Sorry you haven’t been getting much sleep. I know how that feels. I’d love to offer up some advice or something but I am yet to figure out how to get Molly to have any decent sleep…

I’m totally with you with the ‘my blog my rules’ thing. I often feel guilty about not doing enough on my blog, but I make my own rules so I’ll do as much or as little as I want.. Great post #familyfun

  2. Oh, I know that feeling so well – Max seems to go through regular phases where he’s up in the 5’s and it’s a killer. We had one recently but thankfully we’re back in the 6’s now and I’m so relieved!

Well done on braving the hair cut – I’ve never been brave enough myself and normally leave going to the hairdressers until it’s unavoidable as Max hates it! But he’s started sitting quietly for it now, which is an improvement at least! #familyfun

  3. Naps for Mothers of tiny tots is no less than a blessing. Over the weekends, I choose to take a nap when its my Kid’s siesta time. You know what I did try your rice activity. It was fun. We used food colors. It engaged him for more than half an hour but at the end he spilled them all. It was tough accumulating them. I was too planning the haircut for my toddler over the weekend but postponed it for next week due to the weather. Happy to linkup.

  4. I really miss nap times in this house. Jamie stopped napping before he turned 2. How very dare he!!! To be honest he sleeps better at night though, I just don’t get a Mummy nap myself. There’s nothing more lovely than watching your little ones sleep. Well done on cutting down on chocolate. I usually treat myself to chocolate for the very same reason. ##FamilyFunLinky

  5. Having naps together is always nice – I do miss those days of snuggling up together for a mid-afternoon nap, even if it was never as long as I would have liked it to be. Hope you manage to get a bit more sleep soon though – it’s so hard when you’re not getting as much as you would like! #familyfun

  6. I really want mini eggs! Just a few weeks to go 🙁 I feel like you about painting. I am not sure when mine learnt to make quite so much mess, but for the 30s of painting that we get these days they make the most colossal mess that takes about 3 hours to clean up, so I have been avoiding it like the plague! #FamilyFun

  7. Our starts have been a tad early for my liking too. Not quite 5.30, well we had one at 5.30 but 6 is early enough. If you can rest with the little man do I say and enjoy all the mini eggs, I love me a mini egg. Well done on doing his hair. I took Toby to the barber and he screamed the entire time. Was great fun. #familyfun x
