Exploring Creativity #FamilyFunLinky

Welcome to #FamilyFunLinky Week 20

Family Fun is for all bloggers of all shapes and sizes. A supportive little community to share anything you want.  Once the link up ends on a Friday night you get to vote on your favourite blog posts to see if you’ll be a #FamilyFun Number One!

This blog has given me such a fantastic creative outlet over the last year, I’ve mentioned it before in many blog posts.  That’s the thing though, many many blog posts.  The blog has absorbed up so much of my time (Easily 20+ hours a week) that I haven’t had much for anything else.  A passion for crafting has ebbed away that I want to claw back, this means something has to give.  I’m trialing something for the next month which means there will be less of me here and more of me out there…

It’s so hard to cut back on something that you really enjoy. I have had to work out what aspects of my blog need to take a back seat while I regain some life balance.   4 hours (plus social media scrolling & reading blogs at bed time) of pure blog time a week, approximately 2 nap times. That’s it, that is my limit and so far in on my 2nd week I’ve kept to that.  Scary stuff!  It means that I’ve been able to sort out #FamilyFun and my Happy Days blogs, that’s it!

It does mean that I’ve picked up my crochet hook, I’ve cleaned a bit more, I’ve read a chapter in a book, been on longer walks, heck, I even prepared tea a few nights.  The most important thing in all of this I have started to accept my lot in life a bit more, being a mother to the Robot, he will only be young once.  I’ve had time to prepare more activities for him, change his toys up a bit more, spend more time at the park.  It makes me feel a bit more appreciated in all aspects of my life.

Creativity runs within my veins and there is more than just one way to show it.  The blog will always be here as I’ve worked too hard on it just to stop but there are other things I will do to keep my creative spirit alive that will benefit all my family.  For now at least!

In the spirit of creativeness here is the boy getting stuck into some painting:

That’s enough about me though… On to all the important bits…

The Winner of “I’m a #FamilyFun Number One”

This weeks winner of “I’m a #FamilyFun Number One” goes to… Kristin from Four Princesses and The Cheese for Ways That My Husband Out Parents Me – This one definitely made me smile a lot.  It’s not that easy being the main carer to the kids and although I only have the one child I still feel like every day is just a snow ball of madness sometimes. Daddy comes home and swoops in to hold the mess down!  Well done Kristin you can pick up the badge code for your badge here.

My Featured Post

This week my featured post goes to Brandi from Big Fit Fam for Let’s Talk Motivation.  Brandi keeps sharing her Work Out Wednesday blog series with us at Family Fun.  Each week I always say, “Yup, totally not motivated to do that at home!”, well more fool us hey, she’s hit back with a motivational blog for us!  Having a reason to motivate yourself to do a bit more exercise is the key.  Since reading this I have started walking a bit more and a bit longer.  (again) .  I used to walk 3 miles a day when the Robot was younger and I could carry him.  My aim is to get back to this so that I can get my body feeling a little bit more healthy again.  Thanks for linking up, you can pick up the badge code for your badge here.

  1. It’s hard to find that illusive blog-life balance! I made it an aim to cut back after Christmas, which I’m managing for the most part, but it’s frustrating to see my stats drop as a result (especially for a perfectionist such as myself!)

But we are mums first and foremost. I’m glad that you’ve found something that is working for you, and good luck with your new exercise regime!
